The project of Prof. Robert Ziółkowski from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology has been included in the list of initiatives that received funding in the competition organized by the Medical Research Agency for the implementation of applied research in the biomedical field.

Revenues from the commercialization of intellectual property belonging to employees of the Warsaw University of Technology increased from 600,000 PLN net in 2023 to over 2.1 million PLN net in the recently concluded year 2024. This growth is the result of a greater focus on our university's third mission.

Between December 6 and 15, 2024, our doctoral student, Paweł Czernic, from the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography, participated in a research mission at the Ptolemais site in Libya. Ptolemais is one of the largest and best-preserved ancient cities. The project includes fieldwork such as geophysical surveys, terrain mapping, and excavation works.

The promotion of research and innovation in the production and use of renewable fuels was the central focus of the agreement signed on December 17, 2024, by Prof. Piotr Przybyłowicz, Dean of the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering, and Czesław Siekierski, PhD, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Krzysztof Zaremba, Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology.

The revitalized appearance of the iconic Warsaw palm tree is, in part, the result of work by a team from WUT's Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering in collaboration with the Lubas company. Our specialists were responsible for designing and crafting the new leaves.

You can talk about science in an interesting, understandable and inspiring way. This has been proven by our doctoral students – finalists of the WUT edition of the 3MT® competition. They showed that you can successfully present your research in just a few minutes. Natalia Izdebska from the Faculty of Chemistry did it in the best way possible, winning the jury’s first prize and the audience award.

Researchers from WUT's Faculty of Physics (Division of Nuclear Physics) have published an article in Physical Review X, introducing software that models superfluid nuclear matter in neutron stars while incorporating quantum effects.

Warsaw University of Technology Henwar SIMP Rally Team, consisting of Piotr Brakowiecki (driver) and Tomasz Chmielewski (pilot), wrapped up the 2024 season with the title of Central European vice-champions in off-road car rallies in the TH group. This marks another season in which the team has secured a spot on the podium at this competition.

It was two days full of festive spirit. The square in front of the Warsaw University of Technology's Main Building was filled with market stalls, including our WUT stall, which was dedicated to charity. Thanks to your support, we raised 50,854.50 PLN for the 2025 Christmas Grant.

September saw the launch of the WaterSense - ASIR project, which aims to develop and market an innovative system for monitoring water quality in Poland. Scientists from 3 units of the WUT are involved in it: Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Chemistry and CEZAMAT (Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies). The project will last until 2027 and may revolutionise water quality monitoring in Poland and Europe.

A Kuwaiti-Polish archaeological mission while working in the Subija desert in northern Kuwait discovered a site that was most likely a courtyard or workshop for the production of jewellery and shell ornaments. The discovery dates to the Ubay period in Mesopotamia around 7700 years ago. Paweł Czernic, a PhD student at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at the Warsaw University of Technology, is a member of this fascinating mission.

On Friday, November 22, the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) hosted a meeting focused on collaboration in scientific research and dual degree programs between Polish and Chinese universities. The meeting was co-chaired by Vice Minister Lin Xin of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and Prof. Mariusz Malinowski, WUT's Vice-Rector for Research. The event also included representatives from the Embassy of China in Warsaw, the China Science and Technology Exchange Center, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, a partner institution of WUT.

The new app, PlaceFinder, developed by two students, makes it easier to find a seat on a train, even when PKP Intercity (Polish State Railways Intercity) reports no available seats. The app searches for available seats at different stages of the journey, combining them into a single, cohesive travel plan. The creators of the tool are Kazimierz Lipski, a WUT student, and Weronika Pieniak from the WIT Academy.

As part of a grant for a prototype, researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology aim to develop the CellSphereMultiFlow tool, which will enable the replication of key features of human organs in laboratory conditions, along with a description of the methodology for its use. The proposed tool will make it possible to achieve a level of advancement in vitro research that is unattainable using currently known cell culture methods.
