”The Gift of Time – a Place of Peace and Dignity” is the title of the project for which Julia Pytko, Maciej Paweł Oberzig and Daniel Piotr Chiłła from the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology were awarded the second place in the competition ”Hospice – Home for the Terminally Ill”.

At the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, an agreement was signed on funding for a research team within the Virtual Research Institute. Its aim is to develop new solutions and strategies related to oncological treatment. The Warsaw University of Technology is a partner in this consortium; its leader is the Jagiellonian University. The project head at WUT is Professor Mariusz Pietrzak.

The Board of Directors of the international association of technical universities CESAER has appointed Professor Mariusz Malinowski – Warsaw University of Technology Vice-Rector for Research – as the association’s Envoy to the upcoming Polish presidency of the European Union Council.

Student Marek Rauchfleisz received a gold medal and a special award (Canadian Special Award of Excellence) at the International Invention Innovation Competition iCAN 2024 held in Toronto. The award was granted for the original design of the specialized drone “TROPO O3 DRONE”. When he’s not designing award-winning drones, Marek is a second-year student of Computer Science and Information Systems within the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science at the Warsaw University of Technology.

Yelyzaveta Leshchenko and Paweł Rukat – students at the Faculty of Mechatronics of the Warsaw University of Technology – spent part of their summer in an unusual way. They took part in the largest international analog lunar mission – Mission Analog Colony 1, organized by the Analog Astronaut Training Centre (AATC). It was attended by 30 analog astronauts from 5 continents.

The team PoliWęglany (PoliCarbonates) from the WUT Faculty of Chemistry, comprising: Gustaw Głuski, Tymon Obrębski and Albert Yedzikhanau, took the third place in the competition Chemkaton Great Challenges Chemistry. The final - 24h marathon - was held at the AGH University of Kraków on 30 September - 1 October 2024. Another team from the Faculty of Chemistry – Orbitals – also took part in the great final.

On Monday October 14, 2024, the Warsaw University of Technology hosted the official launch of the "Club of Digital Opportunities" (Klub Cyfrowych Możliwości) project. The initiative aims to challenge stereotypes about professional roles in the ICT sector and inspire girls to pursue educational paths related to technology and the digital industry.

At the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at Warsaw University of Technology, a group of young researchers, known as UAV GeoLAB, focuses on their passion for flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, to perform terrain measurement and imaging. They have successfully completed numerous outstanding projects.

A doctoral candidate from the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of the Warsaw University of Technology, Paweł Czernic, MSc, took the first place in CLGE Young Surveyors Contest 2024 in the Bachelor and Master’s Degree Category. The award ceremony was held on 25 September 2024 during the INTERGEO conference in Stuttgart.

Warsaw University of Technology, as a partner research institution, actively participates in the international DIEGO project. Its main goal is to develop digital solutions for sustainable, energy-efficient, and economically viable management of energy infrastructure in industrial plants. The solutions of the DIEGO project are being implemented and launched in five pilot installations in various locations across four participating countries: Poland, Germany, Austria, and Israel.

Karolina Siennicka, a student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology, won a bronze medal at the World Judo Juniors Championships. The Polish athlete competed in the under 57 kg weight category, which included a total of 43 contenders.

Bartosz Rylski, a second-year student at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering (Aerospace Engineering), was the only representative from a Polish university to qualify for the prestigious European Space Agency (ESA) program. He participated in the launch campaign of a student rocket.
