The team from the Bridge Engineers’ Student Research Group (operating at the Faculty of Civil Engineering) took the second place in an international steel bridge competition Design and Construct Steel Bridge Competition (DE&CO) 2024, which was held in Turkey on 6–10 May.

The first generation of experts on Explainable Artificial Intelligence in Europe is about to arise as the NL4XAI research project comes to an end. Funded under the EU's Horizon 2020 programme to train eleven PhD candidates, this European consortium announces its final conference and industrial event, scheduled to take place on 24 May 2024 at the DesignLab of the University of Twente, The Netherlands.

Young innovators from the Warsaw University of Technology have developed a smart system of municipal waste management. The solution was implemented in Sierpc – a town with almost 20 thousand inhabitants in the mazowieckie voivodship. Every day almost 100 sensors measure how full rubbish bins are and provide information about the optimum route of waste collection.

Wishes from the WUT Rector

In the 2024–2028 term of office, the Warsaw University of Technology will be led by Professor Krzysztof Zaremba. The voting of the Electoral College was held on 21 March 2024.

Can a university building be energy self-sufficient? Our researchers are implementing a project to verify this. A pilot installation will be located on the roof of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering building. 

Can one turn their hobby into a BSc thesis, combining pleasure with usefulness? The story of a graduate of the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography proves that it's possible.

The new project of the Warsaw University of Technology, "Research and Application Center for Terahertz Technologies CENTERA2", will be conducted in the laboratories of the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies (CEZAMAT) under the leadership of Prof. Wojciech Knap and Prof. Marek Potemski.

Improved efficiency, greater environmental friendliness, and independence from non-European production – that's the plan for a new product in the battery market. The company Bechtel Poland and the Warsaw University of Technology have signed a cooperation agreement on launching a career development programme in the field of nuclear power engineering. The aim of the programme is to, among other things, educate specialists who will support the development of the Polish nuclear power sector, including the project of construction and maintenance of the first Polish nuclear power plant in the Choczewo community in the pomorskie region.

It is to be sustainable, yet fast, efficient, and reliable. How can this effect be achieved? The answer may be... rail. As part of the UrbFRail project, tools are being developed that will improve the creation and revitalization of freight rail hubs in cities.
