Warsaw University of Technology has researchers working on a range of scientific topics which are explored in different areas and on different scale. Often the outcome of these helps with development of new technologies or everyday products to come into being.

The Emergency Guard System (EGS) project is the creation of the Student Research Group of Air Transport from the Faculty of Transport at the Warsaw University of Technology. Thanks to this idea, our team took second place in the AviaTech Challenge 2024 Aviation Hackathon.

Young innovators from the Warsaw University of Technology have developed a smart system of municipal waste management. The solution was implemented in Sierpc – a town with almost 20 thousand inhabitants in the mazowieckie voivodship. Every day almost 100 sensors measure how full rubbish bins are and provide information about the optimum route of waste collection.

Can a university building be energy self-sufficient? Our researchers are implementing a project to verify this. A pilot installation will be located on the roof of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering building. 

30 million złoty for terahertz technology research at WUT

The project of Professor Mariusz Zdrojek from the Faculty of Physics was awarded funding from the National Science Centre within the competition PRELUDIUM BIS 5. The scientist, with a PhD student, will deal with synthesis of 2D semiconductors for innovative applications in electronics.

Experts from Poland, Finland, Norway, Latvia, Slovenia and Spain are joining forces to reduce carbon emissions in the construction industry and cut the need for new raw materials. The Polish part of the Ti-ReX project is led by Dr Jan Pełczyński from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology, and the coordinator of the entire project is Dr Katarzyna Ostapska – a representative of the Norwegian organization SINTEF and a graduate of Warsaw University of Technology.

We support the mission of climate-neutral and smart cities

The initiative brings together over 60 entities from 25 partner countries and 6 supporting countries.
