The Emergency Guard System (EGS) project is the creation of the Student Research Group of Air Transport from the Faculty of Transport at the Warsaw University of Technology. Thanks to this idea, our team took second place in the AviaTech Challenge 2024 Aviation Hackathon.

The team from the Bridge Engineers’ Student Research Group (operating at the Faculty of Civil Engineering) took the second place in an international steel bridge competition Design and Construct Steel Bridge Competition (DE&CO) 2024, which was held in Turkey on 6–10 May.

In an effort to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the ENCASE consortium is researching and developing technologies for carbon capture and storage. Scientists from the Warsaw University of Technology are involved in the work.

Prof. Thomas Skotnicki has been awarded a prestigious ERC Advanced grant

Young innovators from the Warsaw University of Technology have developed a smart system of municipal waste management. The solution was implemented in Sierpc – a town with almost 20 thousand inhabitants in the mazowieckie voivodship. Every day almost 100 sensors measure how full rubbish bins are and provide information about the optimum route of waste collection.

Can you grow plants in space? Research in this field is planned to be conducted by a team from the Warsaw University of Technology. This project was rewarded in the competition Direction: Space. 

Can a university building be energy self-sufficient? Our researchers are implementing a project to verify this. A pilot installation will be located on the roof of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering building. 

The new project of the Warsaw University of Technology, "Research and Application Center for Terahertz Technologies CENTERA2", will be conducted in the laboratories of the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies (CEZAMAT) under the leadership of Prof. Wojciech Knap and Prof. Marek Potemski.

Improved efficiency, greater environmental friendliness, and independence from non-European production – that's the plan for a new product in the battery market. Over the past four years, participants of the ASTRABAT project, including specialists from the WUT’s Faculty of Chemistry, have been working on it.

The project of Professor Mariusz Zdrojek from the Faculty of Physics was awarded funding from the National Science Centre within the competition PRELUDIUM BIS 5. The scientist, with a PhD student, will deal with synthesis of 2D semiconductors for innovative applications in electronics.

Our researchers among the authors of an important article

Experts from Poland, Finland, Norway, Latvia, Slovenia and Spain are joining forces to reduce carbon emissions in the construction industry and cut the need for new raw materials. The Polish part of the Ti-ReX project is led by Dr Jan Pełczyński from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology, and the coordinator of the entire project is Dr Katarzyna Ostapska – a representative of the Norwegian organization SINTEF and a graduate of Warsaw University of Technology.

What can be done to support cities in their strive towards climate neutrality? This is the main aim of the project CapaCITIES. The initiative brings together over 60 entities from 25 partner countries and 6 supporting countries. In Poland it is led by the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute and the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of the Warsaw University of Technology.

A new project of our students

Scientists from the Faculty of Mechatronics of the Warsaw University of Technology have developed applications that use virtual reality to help treat people who have suffered a stroke.

New technologies can support psychotherapy. Prof. Artur Janicki from the Warsaw University of Technology conducts research in this area.

Finding a parking space during rush hours is often a challenge, especially in big cities. A WUT student Grzegorz Barański is looking into this problem, and he wants to solve it with an app.

What could space sound like? NASA is working on turning cosmic views into sound. The agency is looking for new solutions. One of them was proposed by the students from the Warsaw University of Technology during the hackathon.
