WUT student appointed as PKA student expert

Tomasz Olczak, student of the WUT Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, was appointed as student expert of the Polish Accreditation Committee. Student experts, as members of the evaluation committees, participate in inspections of fields of study all over Poland, and after the inspections, they contribute to reports that are the basis of programme evaluation decisions.

Combains team from MiNI wins Bit n Build hackathon

The Combains team comprising Natalia Choszczyk, Mikołaj Rowicki and Filip Langiewicz has secured the title of an international winner in a global hackathon Bit n Build. All team members study at the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science in the field of study Data Science. The competition task was to develop two projects that use AI.

Professor Mariusz Malinowski member of the IEEE Board of Directors

Professor Mariusz Malinowski, WUT Vice-Rector for Research, was elected in general elections as member of the IEEE Board of Directors. IEEE is an association of technical specialists with 500,000 members in 167 countries. Professor Malinowski will represent Chapter 6 and his term of office will be two years.

Professor Wojciech Knap laureate of the FNP Prize 2025

The laureates of this year’s Foundation of Polish Science Prize include Professor Wojciech Knap from the CENTERA Laboratory at the Warsaw University of Technology CEZAMAT. Professor Knap was awarded the prize in the area of mathematical, physical and engineering sciences. The FNP prize is regarded as the most important scientific distinction in Poland. It is the 34th edition of the awards.

From the Arctic to the stratosphere – projects by WUT students

At the beginning of 2025, the Student Research Group for Aerial Measurement and Control Systems was established at the Warsaw University of Technology. It operates at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, under the academic supervision of Elżbieta Jarzębowska, PhD. Despite its short period of activity, the Group has already proven its ability to carry out ambitious research and engineering projects. Their work doesn't end in laboratories – it is tested in real, often extreme conditions.

WUT in an international project on geometrical metrology

Defining quality indicators for point clouds, simulating the operation of terrestrial laser scanners (TLS), and developing shared digital metrological tools – these are the main goals of the ScanClouDT project. Young researchers from the Faculty of Chemistry won FameLab 2025

Our young, talented researchers were unmatched in the national final of FameLab 2025! Natalia Izdebska took first place, and Bartłomiej Łuszczuk secured the second spot on the podium. Natalia will represent Poland in the FameLab International Final on 25 November at CERN in Geneva. 

OSTEOFUSE: WUT in a Polish–Turkish research project

Researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology are participating in OSTEOFUSE – a bilateral project aimed at producing personalised, commercially available spinal and cranio-maxillofacial (CMF) bone implants that combine surface-modification technology with 3D printing. The project has received funding under the VI Polish–Turkish Projects call and brings together four members: the Warsaw University of Technology and the company Stenocoat sp. z o.o. as the national consortium, and the company Trabtech and the University of Ankara as the Turkish consortium.

This year's "30 Under 30" list by Forbes includes individuals closely associated with the Warsaw University of Technology. Łucja Rugor, founder and CEO of the Kosmok startup, is a graduate of the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering. Brothers Paweł Paczuski and Krzysztof Paczuski, co-founders of upmedic, are graduates of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology. This is the ninth edition of the list under the slogan "Young Poles Conquering the World."

Our students succeed at HackYeah

On the first weekend of October, the HackYeah hackathon – the largest on-site event of its kind in Europe – took place at TAURON Arena Kraków. Our students Filip Kiernozek and Piotr Mackiewicz won in their category, while a team from the Kraken Student Research Group and an inter-university team including Adam Sulik from WUT both took second place in their respective challenges.

Circular economy in construction – mortars from recycled materials

How can construction waste be transformed into high-value materials that can return to the market? This is the goal set by a research team led by Natalia Gasik-Kowalska, MSc, from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mechanics and Petrochemistry, which is conducting research on the development of new formulations of construction mortars in which traditional raw materials are replaced with recycled components.

WUT researchers working on a scenario database for autonomous vehicles

A team led by Prof. Robert Nowak is implementing the DARTS-PL project, which aims to develop a national database of test scenarios for autonomous vehicles (AVs), taking into account road conditions characteristic of Poland. The project is being carried out by a research consortium consisting of the Motor Transport Institute (Leader) and the Institute of Computer Science at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology as the leading academic partner.

The "Huber Squad" team, consisting of Łukasz Latoch, Jakub Kuliberda, and Mateusz Kuczek, won 3rd place in the final of the 4th edition of the nationwide engineering competition Symkaton 4.0. Additionally, the team also secured a special award for the best use of computer simulation software. All team members are students at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology.

Our student completes internship at CERN

Kerem Altun from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology completed a two-month internship at the CERN research centre. He worked in the SCE-FS (Site and Civil Engineering – Future Studies) team, which is responsible for planning and overseeing all future particle colliders.

The WaterSense – ASIR project, aimed at developing and introducing to the market an innovative water quality monitoring system in Poland, has been awarded the runner-up title in the national stage of the international James Dyson Award competition. Thanks to its innovative technology, the system enables continuous, precise, and fully automated water quality monitoring.
