Hubert Janicki of the Warsaw University of Technology (field of study: Geodesy and Cartography) won the top spot in the 12th National Thesis Competition for Best Thesis in Cartography, Geomatics and Geoinformation.

The Good Will Farm Is About to Take Shape

The town of Janów in Mazovia hosted the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Good Will Farm, a compound consisting of innovative buildings designed to meet the needs of people with physical and intellectual disabilities. The event was attended by the WUT representatives involved in the venture.

Baltic Robot Battle Competition – victory of the Melsoniaki team

The students of the Robotics Student Research Group (at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering) won two first prizes in the Baltic Robot Battle Competition 2020. The Melsoniaki Team, composed of students who designed the humanoid robot Melson, won the RoboHackathon with their BoBeR robot, while Wisienka, a robot designed by Kornelia Łukojć, was awarded the title of Miss BBR.

Warsaw University of Technology is among the universities ranked 1000+. Out of 19 Polish universities included in the ranking, three are ranked higher: the Jagiellonian University (ranked in the 501-600 bracket), as well as the University of Warsaw and the Medical University of Warsaw (ranked in the 801-1000 bracket).

”European Universities” – collaboration with associated partners

The ENHANCE consortium

The ENHANCE consortium, which comprises 7 leading European universities of technology, including the Warsaw University of Technology, will collaborate with associated partners. This will give the consortium universities support in the areas of ”Digitisation and Artificial Intelligence”, ”Sustainable Cities and Societies” and “Climate”. Associated partners will play an advisory role and help promote the results of the project.

Extended admissions for applicants to degree programmes from Belarus

Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

 In view of the current political and social situation in Belarus, the Warsaw University of Technology has extended the admissions deadline to degree programmes in Polish and in English as the language of instruction for applicants from Belarus until 30 September. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship grant at the WUT Faculty of Physics

The prestigious grant was awarded to Marcin Patecki, Ph.D., Eng., who will implement the project The ALICE fixed-target programme layout using bent crystals at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Its goal is to expand the research potential of the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

Natural Language to make Artificial Intelligence self-explaining: the members of the NL4XAI project meet for the first time

The aim of this four-year European project is to use natural language to generate explanations for decisions made by an AI system, which are understandable to non-expert users. The project members will meet at the 4th of September in Santiago de Compostela, Spain (to the extent this is possible under COVID-19 relate restrictions) for the first training event of the network.

Winner of the VCLA International Student Award, Karolina Okrasa, and her supervisor, Paweł Rzążewski, PhD Eng.

Karolina Okrasa was recognized for her master thesis titled: "Complexity of variants of graph homomorphism problem in selected graph classes" in the Outstanding Master Thesis Award category. The thesis was supervised by Paweł Rzążewski, PhD Eng. This year, the award was granted to two students. Karolina, who is now a doctoral student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science, studies the borderline of two research fields: mathematics and theoretical information science.
