Syrena Sport – Poland’s automotive icon

It was more than half a century ago that the Warsaw-based Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych (“FSO”, the now non-existent Passenger Automobile Factory) saw the birth of a prototype of the car which has mesmerized thousands until this day. One of the key people on the team working on the Syrena Sport sports car was Cezary Nawrot, a graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology. 

WUT in the Times Higher Education Ranking

In the newest edition of the Times Higher Education Ranking, the Warsaw University of Technology has been classified in the group between 601-800. Among 12 Polish universities considered in the ranking, higher than WUT was only University of Warsaw (places 501-600).

To solve this puzzle, we have to go back to the turbulent years when Poland was getting back its independence. Antoni Palluth – the son of a postal worker from Pobiedziska was 18 years old in 1918. During his service in the Polish Army's Communications division, when he was manning a radio station in the Poznań Fortress (also known as the Citadel), among his other tasks, he met Maksymilian Ciężki, just two years his senior. This is where it all began.

The Vehicle Aerodynamics Students’ Academic Circle – 321 kilometres per one litre

The vehicle designed by the Vehicle Aerodynamics Students’ Academic Circle (pol. SKAP - Studenckie Koło Aerodynamiki Pojazdów) – Kropelka 2.0 (Droplet) – made 321,32 kilometres using only 1 litre of fuel, during the Shell Eco-marathon Challenger contest. WUT students took fourth place in the competition.
