Comixify – initially an application for converting movies and photos into comics, now also the VFX Platform, supporting video post-production, created and developed by a team associated with the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology - was used in the creation of "The Watch" series based on Terry Pratchetts’ books.

Master's thesis entitled "Invisible Monument" by Adam Wodzyński, M.Sc. Eng. of Architecture was appreciated for the idea and design solutions combining the history and identity of the place with the provision of greenery in the very center of the city.

The first session of the Research Council of the Geospatial Analysis Research Network after the appointment of all members has been held. The Warsaw University of Technology is the Network Leader.

Research work under the project “Asphalt road paving structure optimization with the use of modified asphalts” has been completed. The obtained results prove that the design concepts developed under the project for the construction of road paving with the use of highly modified asphalts (HiMA) enable the construction of more durable and cheaper roads. Researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology contributed to the project.

Requirements for composite materials used in the industry are getting ever more demanding. Companies are doing their best to gain even the slightest competitive edge and scientists are helping them to do so. Mgr inż. Kamil Dydek, a PhD student at the Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering is working hand in hand with his team to develop an innovative solution, which may be applied in aviation, the wind power and automobile industries and even in medicine and sports gear.

Dr. hab. inż. Piotr Samczyński, WUT Professor from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, has received the SET Panel Early Career Award.

February highlights

We would like to invite you for the ENHANCE Launch Event “Launching the Future”. It is the first public event for the academic staff, administrative staff, students and doctoral candidates from universities being part of the ENHANCE Alliance. 

Dr hab. Eng. Hanna Zbroszczyk, a WUT Professor from the Faculty of Physics, has won the SONATA BIS competition organized by the National Science Centre. As part of the project, a new team will be created which will focus on astrophysics research.

In March, the WUT International Students Office is going to take part in the Virtual Education Fairs organized by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange in Europe and Latin America.

The international jury appreciated Zuzanna Słabik’s design of a modular structure in the spirit of sustainable architecture – Modular Housing Unit.

Erasmus+ office invites all students interested in participating in Erasmus+ programme to the information meeting.

Adam Pykel and Jarosław Kujawa won the 2020 Polish Hercules Golden Statuette and Silver Statuette, respectively. Agnieszka Kalinowska-Sołtys, Witold Szymanik, Jarosław Wielopolski and Paweł Wierzbicki were titled the Industry’s Personality of the Year 2020.

The awards went to dr inż. Ireneusz Czmoch of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and mgr inż. arch. Paweł Przybyłowicz of the Faculty of Architecture.

Prof. dr hab. inż. arch. Jan Słyk, Vice-Rector for Studies, and Prof. dr hab. inż. Andrzej Garbacz, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering were named the Industry’s Personality of the Year 2020 in Builder Awards.

On the 25^th of February 2021 (Thursday), the International Students Office is going to promote studies at WUT in countries belonging to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.

The seminar will be held this Wednesday, 24 February 2021 (19:00-20:00) by Prof. Anna Siemińska-Lewandowska and Dr Rafał Kuszyk (WUT Faculty of Civil Engineering). This talk is part of the University of Cambridge Engineering Department Geotechnical Research Seminars series.

Four Poland’s technical universities, including the Warsaw University of Technology, are setting up the National Coordinate Metrology Network, a world-class scientific network and research center.

A team of the Robotics Student Research Group (at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering) came in the top spot at Carolo-Cup@Home. The WUT students and their automated vehicle Selfie were the best in the Basic Cup.

Krzysztof and Paweł Paczuski, a student and a graduate of the WUT Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, have won the Pitch&Bridge Canada competition with their upmedic startup, receiving an opportunity to expand it in Canada and the US.
