Dr inż. Piotr Prochoń of the Faculty of Civil Engineering has defended a prestigious double PhD dissertation, obtaining a PhD degree at the Warsaw University of Technology and at Belgium’s Université de Liège, where he completed a three year PhD study program (2017-2020).

In the latest "Web of Universities” list presenting universities with the best online visibility, the Warsaw University of Technology ranked 512th worldwide (up by 22 notches). Also, it is Poland’s fourth most visible university.  

On the 11^th of February 2021 (Thursday), the International Students Office of Warsaw University of Technology will take part in virtual fairs organized by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). This time, we will present our offer of studies to candidates from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The meeting was attended by members of the University Council and representatives of WUT authorities. It was held on January 28, 2021 and was conducted in a hybrid format — some of the participants gathered in the Senate Hall, others joined remotely. 

They study in various fields at various faculties and have different interests, but they have one thing in common — through their passionate activities, they promote both science and the Warsaw University of Technology. We present the profiles of the nine finalists awarded for their above-average student and popularizing activity.

Creating services to empower SMEs to develop new products and unique business models is the main objective of a project pursued by a partnership including the WUT Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer Management (CZIiTT). The initiative has just received PLN 2.4 million of European Union funding.  

There is no tomato soup like the one to Mom’s recipe. Grandma’s homemade pancakes are the best of all time. We would always have baked cheese baguettes at our good pal Janek’s. Certainly, we all like going back to the flavors of our childhood. Priceless culinary recipes are passed down through generations. How to make sure none of them gets lost in the pile of cooking books? WUT students have devised a solution by harnessing artificial intelligence (AI). 

A team of researchers associated with the Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology are working on a dedicated solution. 

From 18 to 20 January 2021, Warsaw University of Technology co-organised the first online “CESAER Professional Week” conference. Its main organizer was the CESAER. Our University has been a member of this association since 2005.    

The funds will be spent to develop the research infrastructure and to set up a unique research and development center.

Prof. dr hab. inż. Małgorzata Kujawińska and prof. dr hab. inż. Krzysztof Patorski from the Faculty of Mechatronics (precisely from the Department of Photonic Engineering, Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics) are among the winners of scientific awards granted by the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE).

High school students creating genius solutions to make life easier for others? If you think this may happen only in movies or in other countries, be ready for a surprise. This invention was created in Poland, just around the corner. 

The Warsaw University of Technology ranked third in Poland in terms of the highest number of most-cited researchers in 2019. We have achieved this owing to our 42 academics ranked among two percent of the world’s most-cited scientists.

The Rector of Warsaw University of Technology Professor Krzysztof Zaremba took part in the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the ENHANCE Alliance being part of the “European universities” project. The meeting took place on the 11^th of January 2021.

This year’s virtual Christmas event organized by the One Day foundation saw the launch of the Usamodzielnieni app. It is a tool developed by a WUT team to support young adults leaving educational care facilities and starting an independent life as adults.

Students from the Power Engineers Research Group at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering are keeping up the momentum and raking in more awards. This time, they were recognized in the international competition entitled: “Offshore Windfarms: Development Trends and Visions” organized by the Maritime Academy in Szczecin.

Mgr inż. Jakub Kutyła, who graduated from the WUT Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 2020, came in second in the international competition entitled: “Offshore Windfarms: Development Trends and Visions” organized by the Maritime University in Szczecin and the Marshall’s Office of the Western Pomerania Region, in collaboration with the Polish Wind Energy Association.

At its session held on 16 December 2020, the Senate of the Warsaw University of Technology elected the members of the University Council for the 2021-2024 term in office.

Places dominated by concrete surfaces appear environmentally unfriendly and seem to be at odds with the sustainable development ideal. A project by the WUT Faculty of Civil Engineering and F.B.I. Tasbud S.A. may change this perception – all thanks to innovative precast surface elements.
