Representatives of science and business from Poland and abroad will meet to discuss current technological challenges, acquire knowledge and inspire each other. Calls for entries are open for this prestigious competition for students, PhD candidates, researchers, entrepreneurs, education specialists: people who have ideas on how to combat limitations in science, society, the economy or the tech industry. The winner of the Warsaw competition will travel to Berlin and participate in the prestigious Falling Walls conference.

Warsaw University of Technology participated in one of the leading conferences in Europe, devoted to aspects of security and defense policy and the armaments sector. Scientists from WUT presented their projects, participated in discussions, meetings and debates. Our University was one of the main partner of the event.

The team from the Warsaw University of Technology, the Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Warsaw want to help in the treatment of brain tumours and the elimination of side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Teams from the Scientific Circle of Bridge Builders from the Faculty of Civil Engineering were locked in a gripping duel for victory in the nationwide competition wyKOMBinuj mOst (contrive a bridge). Eventually, the PWniaczka team won, beating the record of the competition at the same time. The other two teams ranked second and fourth.

How is it possible?

It does not give off unpleasant odours, it does not cause problems with recycling, it does not remain in gazebos and landfills — and yet light can be and actually is a source of pollution. We asked Krzysztof Skarżyński, PhD Eng., from the Lighting Technology Division of Electrical Power Engineering Institute at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, a lighting enthusiast, a specialist in the field of its simulation and measurements.

Grzegorz Siewruk, PhD Eng., from the Warsaw University of Technology designed and built the Mixeway system, increasing the security of applications operating in the infrastructure of telecommunications operators.

A team from the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology co-created the Mobile Forensic Platform (MPK) to quickly collect and analyze data from the place of a terrorist attack or disaster. The tool can support the Police and Border Guard in their work.

During the two-day ENHANCE Alliance Leadership Meeting, which took place on 12 and 13 May, rectors, vice-rectors and guests from partner universities discussed the strategic directions of the ENHANCE consortium until 2030 in the context of the "Strategy for European Universities" developed by the European Commission.

Madhurya Chandel, PhD, from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering has been invited to attend the 71^st Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting at Lindau (Germany) - a prestigous meeting with Nobel Prize winners and young scientists from around the world.

Setting the temperature in the operating room is quite a challenge. The patient requires a lot of heat, while the cooler temperature is better for the medical staff. WUT researchers decided to look for a solution to this problem. What is their idea? Prof. Anna Bogdan from the Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering explains.

The Faculty of Physics collects and rebuilds old uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), lithium-ion batteries, and car batteries as part of the "Mini-energy storage" campaign („Minimagazyny energii”).
