Piotr Person, Olga Czeranowska-Panufnik, Władysława Kijewska and Aleksander Sojka from the Doctoral School No. 5 of the Warsaw University of Technology have won an architectural and urban planning competition for the development of post-industrial areas in the Czech city of Nachod. The new district is to become a showcase of Czech urban planning.

The standards of total inhalable dust in the exhaust gases are exceeded many times over, the concentrations of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides are significantly exceeded, the emission of carcinogenic benzo (a) pyrene - these are the main findings of the research on eco-pea coal, which was carried out by a team supervised by Artur Badyda, PhD, DSc Associate Professor at Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering.

Comixify – initially an application for converting movies and photos into comics, now also the VFX Platform, supporting video post-production, created and developed by a team associated with the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology - was used in the creation of "The Watch" series based on Terry Pratchetts’ books.

Research work under the project “Asphalt road paving structure optimization with the use of modified asphalts” has been completed. The obtained results prove that the design concepts developed under the project for the construction of road paving with the use of highly modified asphalts (HiMA) enable the construction of more durable and cheaper roads. Researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology contributed to the project.

Companies are doing their best to gain even the slightest competitive edge and scientists are helping them to do so. Mgr inż. Kamil Dydek, a PhD student at the Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering is working hand in hand with his team to develop an innovative solution, which may be applied in aviation, the wind power and automobile industries and even in medicine and sports gear.
