The scholar of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has received an award from the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES). He was honored for his outstanding contributions to the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.

Kornelia Łukojć from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Juliusz Bojarczuk from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology are among the finalists of the 2020 Nobel Prize for Students contest. Both nominations are related to the “Technical Sciences” category.

The film buffs among us are probably familiar with “The Martian” by Ridley Scott and the image of Matt Damon, a survivor on the Red Planet, as he is trying to grow potatoes under those rather unconventional conditions. From a scientific point of view, his efforts as depicted in the movie made very little sense; however, they inspired the audience to reflect on the possibility of growing edible plants in conditions other than on the Earth. This was the dilemma faced by our students taking part in the international IGLUNA 2020 Project.

During the election sitting on 25 June 2020, the Electoral College elected Professor Krzysztof Zaremba, Phd, DSc, for the post of the Rector of Warsaw University of Technology for the 2020–2024 term.

Dr hab. Dariusz Plewczyński, Principal Investigator of Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics, the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Sciences at Warsaw University of Technology became a laureate of the first edition of the PRELUDIUM BIS NCN (panel ST6).

Our students won two second place awards in this year’s SAE Aero Design 2020 WEST - which was unusual since held online. Jury recognised our students for their engineering solutions in the Micro class category.

The Warsaw University of Technology ranked at 511-520 in the latest ranking of the world’s top universities. This marks an improvement of the university’s raking as last year WUT was among the universities classified at positions 521-530. It is worth pointing out that the WUT was ranked 156 worldwide in the employer reputation category, which is the best result in Poland.

On February 26, 2020, the ENHANCE consortium of 7 technical universities: the Warsaw University of Technology, the Technical University of Berlin, RTWH in Aachen, Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, the Polytechnic University of Milan and the Polytechnic University of Valencia submitted an application under the European Commission’s European Universities initiative.

The Univeristy Electoral Commission informs that on 23 June 2020 the pre-election meeting with candidates for the Rector of Warsaw University of Technology for the 2020-2024 term will be held.

We have the first confirmed coronavirus case at Warsaw University of Technology. It concerns a student of our University, who resides in the “Żaczek” dormitory.

A group of WUT scholars has set up a start-up to commercialize innovations in aeronautical engineering. This is an outcome of University investments in the Przasnysz District.

A project led by the Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science was submitted for funding in the POLNOR 2019 Call for Polish-Norwegian research projects. It was among the seven successful projects in the Welfare, health and care category.

The entry of Mateusz Frydrych, a student of Civil Engineering, was named the best in its category in the 3rd Young Engineer Competition initiated by the Builder magazine. The paper explored the structural design of the Prince Jozef Poniatowski Bridge in Warsaw, Poland.

A consortium of VIGO System, the Łódź University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology is responsible for the development and production of the invention.

A team of three including Agnieszka Witaszek, an engineering graduate from the WUT Faculty of Architecture, won the top distinction for creating a unique concept of a foldable emergency shelter.

The Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Chemistry joined a consortium in joint effort to administer international doctoral programs in the fast-evolving battery technologies. This is the first project of that kind to be supported by the WUT.

The OKOŃ submarine in the Smart Robots category and the e-MaksPower racing car in the Life Upgrade category won the main prizes in the nationwide KOKOS Student Construction Competition finals.

The Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering (or more precisely: the Institute of Heat Engineering) is the leader of the MOLCAR project, submitted for funding in the POLNOR CCS 2019 Call for Polish-Norwegian research projects. The project achieved the highest score. 

WUT Professor Mateusz Malanowski Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology won the IEEE AESS Fred Nathanson Memorial Radar Award. This award is granted in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of radiolocation to scientists under 40 years of age.

A group of scientists headed by Prof. Elżbieta Malinowska of the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies (CEZAMAT) and the Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Chemistry are working on diagnostic devices for rapid biomarker testing, including virus detection.
