The Science Club of Bridge Engineers of the Warsaw University of Technology have just returned from Turkey, where they competed in the finals of the international Design and Construct Steel Bridge Competition. Students have gained valuable experience and prizes.

In the latest edition of The Center for World University Ranking, Warsaw University of Technology ranked 711^th  in the world and maintained its fifth place in the country, behind three universities and one research institute.

Using modern geoinformation technologies, a team from the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography will check the technical condition of the historic buildings of the Museum of Zagłebie in Będzin.

The device for monitoring the vital signs of infants during sleep, which detects signs of cot death, was appreciated at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva. The idea received a gold medal from the international jury of the exhibition and a special prize from the National Scientific Council of Thailand.

For two months now, students of architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology have been working hard on a concept for spatial installation addressing the problem of noise in the city. They realise that their professional decisions affect the noise level in the city, and they have decided to do something about it.

Marek Martynowicz's master's thesis from the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology was among 38 projects competing for the Young Talent Architecture Award.

Nanocrystalline forms of zinc oxide demonstrate great application potential in optoelectronic and photovoltaic technologies. They can be used in medicine and nanodiagnostics, as well as as a luminescent pigment for paints and varnishes. A new method of producing this type of materials has been developed by WUT researchers.

Fresh, healthy and organically produced food right next to the house, and - on top of that - right in the city center – that is the main advantage of AquaFarm, which has opened in Wrocław. The undertaking was part of a Polish-Norwegian project in which the Warsaw University of Technology participates.

A replica of the Boeing 737 MAX cockpit is being built at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology. It will be used in classes with students and will be used for the implementation of diploma theses.

The next great achievement

Prof. Krzysztof Kulpa, from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology has won the Theodore von Kárman Medal. The NATO Science and Technology Board (STB) appreciated our researcher's unique contribution to the field of radar technology.

Prof. Andrzej Strójwąs has received the title of doctor honoris causa of the Warsaw University of Technology. He is a world-renowned specialist in the field of statistical methods of design, control and diagnostics of the production process of VLSI/ULSI integrated circuits.

Students from the Faculty of Architecture designed the Sustainable Development Centre in the Mayukwayuukwa refugee camp in Zambia. The team’s project made its way to the final of the International Humanitarian Architecture Competition.

Interesting project of our student

Noticing and understanding urban noise as a psychophysical, social, cultural, economic and, above all, spatial phenomenon, is the main goal of the project implemented by the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Warsaw Branch of the Association of Polish Architects.

Two teams from the Scientific Circle of Bridge Builders of the Warsaw University of Technology qualified for the second stage of the international steel bridge competition DE&CO '23. Our students will be the only representatives of Poland.

How can the toxicity of cesium, which is frequently used but dangerous both for people and the environment, be dealt with? What can help are nanomaterials containing sumanene. Artur Kasprzak, PhD, from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology is currently working on it. He is the only researcher in the world who specializes in such a use of this compound.

Success of our students

The Warsaw University of Technology was visited by representatives of the National Taipei University of Technology and the Taipei Representative Office in Poland. The visit included extending the student exchange agreement, discussions about expanding cooperation and a tour of CEZAMAT.

In the latest edition of the QS by Subject ranking, we have kept the ranking of the best university in Poland in the field of Engineering & Technology and the third ranking in the category of Natural Sciences. Both rankings cover over 500 universities.

It is biodegradable and provides the result after 15 minutes – such a test detecting the virus that causes Lassa hemorrhagic fever was developed by a team of PhD students from the Warsaw University of Technology.
